Jørgen Dickmeiss
Born:26.02.71

– fiddle, mandolin, bodhran, jews harp, accordion, vocal

Got the idea of creating Tumult when he studied at the consevatory in Odense. Absorbed in the dansih folk music tradition and inspired by experienced fiddlers of the past and the present he has been writing music for quite a long time – which became the basis of Tumult in 1999. Jørgen has been wandering about for a long time to find his passion; folk music. He started his career – only six years old with his brother in the local barass band playing the cornet. At the age of 11 he decided to play the fiddle instead.
The young Jørgen’s temper goes way beyond sheetmusic and classical music so he starts experimenting on the fiddle with other styles of music and other ways of playing it, and starts playing the guitar too.
After high school Jørgen travels in Egypt, Greece, Tyrkey, Israel, Ireland and France for a couple of years and after a eight months stay at a music folk high school, Jørgen decides that he is bound to a life with folkmusic. So when the possibility of studying Folk musik at the conservatory of Funen arise, Jørgen applies and starts. A very new universe is opening to him during the next four years and he is inspired particulary by Klaus Pindstrup and the tradition of Himmerland (Northern part of Jutland).
Since 2003 Jørgen has been living with his wife Maren and their son Alfred in Davinde - a small village 15 kilometers south east of Odense. Here he is continuously inspired by the danish folk music and folk music in general.

Besides spending most of his time trying to make as much Tumult as possible, he also plays in Svøbsk (danish traditional & contemporary folkmusic duo/quartet), and Tangueros (argentine tango quartet).
